Here is the latest news:
AUGUST 31,2007
Hello everyone!! The officers met on Thursday August 30th at Scott Hanson’s 
resort.  Present were:  Scott Hanson, president, Al Zietlow, vice president, 
Dave Robinson, treasurer, Dennis Toll,secretary, and Joe Lewandowski,board 
member.
ITEM1:  The bank account was opened up at Johnson Bank in Hayward.  The total 
amount currently in the bank account is $1295. Some essential bills have been 
paid out already.  We will get a report from the treasurer.
The account is set up as a money market account.
ITEM 2:  Scott and Dennis had a meeting with Kristi Maki.  We talked about 
various topics related to Callahan Lake.  One of the most important topics was
about a fall treatment to the lake.   We can do 2
acres this fall at the end of Callahan Lake by the spillway. Kristi talked to 
the DNR and they gave their OK.  Then the North Aquatic Service was contacted, 
and they will do the treatment for $1200.  This amount may fall under the 
grant money but we don’t know at this time if we will get the money back.  All 
officers agreed that with the low water levels that now is a good time for the 
treatments to begin.  We will meet with both Kristi and Dale Diessel(who 
treats the lake) at the spillway before they spread the chemicals.
Hopefully this treatment will take place at the end of September.
ITEM 3:  The DNR WANTS SUPPORT LETTERS FROM US, THE LAKE OWNERS, as 
individuals, stating how much we enjoy the lake.  These support letters will 
be sent with the Paid Response Form.  So send the letters(best if on a 
letterhead and definitely signed) to Scott Hanson at Highland Pines Resort 
10939 W Callahan Lake Rd, Hayward, Wi  54843 or Dennis Toll 11046 W SouthShore 
Rd, hayward.  The more letters we get the better, but WE NEED THE LETTERS BY 
SEPTEMBER 15.
ITEM 4-We are looking into a 501C- which means that all moneys given to the 
Association would be a tax deduction, because of our non profit status.
ITEM 5  We have been in existence for just a short while and guess what?  We 
need more money!! Go figure!!!  With the $1200 taken out for the fall 
treatment, we only have $95 left in the account.  If you feel that you are in 
a position to send an additional contribution(suggested minimum amount is 
$25.00), the board would greatly  appreciate it.  We will need moneys for the 
spring treatment, which amazingly isn’t that far away.
Thanks for all of your support.  We now have 61 members!!!  Updates will 
follow as meetings of the officers occur.  Our next meeting is in 
approximately
3 weeks
